OUR THOUGHTS MATTER
Your thoughts will influence your words, which determines your actions. Your actions will define your habits which make up your character. Your character will determine your destiny.
We really need to learn to control our thoughts.
It can be difficult for us to have complete control over our thoughts. Many times our thoughts run wild…race through our mind and refuse to be silent, and too often we let them have full reign. But it doesn’t have to be that way. A lot of people don’t realize that just because you have a thought doesn’t mean it belongs to you. We have a say in whether that thought gets to stay or if it has to go. Honestly, because of the world’s influence much of our thoughts need to go. Whether we heard it on the radio, read it on a billboard, or saw it on the street it takes up space in our mind. Paul gives us the answer for how to handle those thoughts…he gives us the solution…
“We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.”
2 Corinthians 10:5 NLT
Oftentimes we are unaware of the importance of taking our thoughts captive, but those thoughts become words. Once the thoughts are given a voice they hold power. The Bible teaches us that life and death are found in the power of the tongue..that’s our words! Words are containers of power, and they influence the world around us. Choose your words carefully. Our Pastor often says that we win or lose by the things we choose! I encourage you to choose life…speak life.
Years ago I heard this statement that said, THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU’RE THINKING ABOUT! That sounds so simple, yet we don’t do it enough. So today, I encourage you to think about what you’re thinking about. When those thoughts don’t line up with the character and nature of Jesus…they try to tell you that you’ll never be good enough…nobody could ever love you…take that thought captive, cast it down and give it no place. Your thoughts are leading you into your destiny and just know this — God has a good plan!
